The Hat City Scissor Squad was founded in July of 2004 by two of the sisters McNally - Mary and Sarah - while sitting on their front steps complaining about how BORED they were. The idea of finding an area stitch 'n bitch was being thrown around like a shuttlecock, but it just wasn't sounding that exciting - especially considering Mary had not yet learned how to knit.

That was really just a cheap way of getting to say shuttlecock. Shuttlecock. *distant squeals and giggles*

"Why can't there be like a CRAFT club, where you can do everything?", bemoaned Mary.
"You know something... that is a good idea!", responded Sarah, " But we need a real KICKASS name - you know, to scare off the timid. I want to meet some cool people into the same stuff we are."

After much deliberation, The Hat City Scissor Squad was coined and they rushed off to find some members. Well, they rushed off to hang out with their friend Michelle and asked if rather than sitting around drinking beer and crafting in her living room, if she'd like to go out and craft in public somewhere and see if we could attract some crafty moths to their hot little flame... She said, "Most definitely."

Well, a Yahoo! group was formed and Mary and Sarah started their own blogs and the people came! Most shocking of all to the ladies was the fact that they happened to bring together exectly the people they wanted to meet! Creative, gutsy, granola chompin, animal huggin, glitter lovin folks with varied life experience and knowledge.

The Squad's at 25+ members now, meeting once a week (usually at Molly Darcy's, an Irish pub where the squadders can guzzle some Guiness *mmmm, Guiness*) and holding special events throughout the year. There's an annual Yarn Swap, Craft Swap, Holiday Hoe Down, and a few other parties thrown in for good measure. They like to have a good time.

This site's intent is to gather all the fantastic ideas popping out of these noggins and share them with the crafty community. You will find no scrapbooking here, though. NONE. Baby doll heads glued to soda bottles? A bevvy of iPod cozies? Muppet themed shrinky dink stitch markers? Yep.

And no scrapbooking.
